Dr. Thakrar earned her Bachelor’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2007 and her M.D. from Albany Medical College in 2012. She completed her residency and fellowship training at the University of Virginia Health System, finishing her general psychiatry residency in 2015 and her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship in 2017. 

She is dual board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of both the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Dr. Thakrar is widely respected for her commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of youth and families in her community.
